Too Many Americans Are Dim-Witted, Slow-Minded

November 20, 2015

The other evening Bill Maher told Steven Colbert on Late Night that this nation is made up of a lot of dim-witted and slow-minded people.   That might have seemed harsh to some but Lord knows I agree with his sentiments.

It only took two days to find another solid reason for why that point of view is shared by many.

Washington Post: “On Tuesday, the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) released a poll showing that a full 72 percent of Americans believe that the economy is in a state of recession… And Wednesday, Bloomberg News released a poll showing that a full 34 percent of Americans mistakenly believe the unemployment rate is now worse than it was when Obama took office, right after the economic collapse had already sucked up millions of jobs. For Republicans, that figure is 53 percent — a majority.”

I so agree with Maher concerning many of his comments about modern-day religion. Such as when after Pope Benedict announced he was resigning, Maher stated “If the Pope can quit, it’s okay for you to quit too.” He then went on to discuss the resignation saying, “Now…as you all know, this week, Pope Benedict told Vatican Radio… he was going to resign because the Church needs a fresh, young face, somewhere other than a priest’s lap.”

You like to quote Bill Maher a lot so I guess I will share his words of wisdom that you would selective ignore.

“If you are in this religion, you probably do have values that are at odds. This is what liberals don’t want to recognize,” Maher said. “This idea that somehow we do share values that all religions are alike is bullshit.”

Bill was then asked by Chrystia Freeland, a member of the Canadian House of Commons, “Are you saying that the Muslim faith is by definition worse than other people’s?”

“If 6 million people in a supposedly moderate country agree with ISIS. You know, I read this article recently — it was attacking me about my beliefs on such things. And they said, ‘Oh Bill, you paint with too broad of a brush.’ What about Indonesia? The moderate country of Indonesia. And then they went on to say, ‘Only 18 percent believe in honor killings.’ Really? So one out of five people in the moderate country your holding up as the moderate country believes if a woman is raped we blame and kill her?”

Now will you label him batshit crazy also Deke?
