Trump Dishonors National Prayer Breakfast

February 2, 2017

At the National Prayer Breakfast, a solemn occasion with a rich history, President Trump spent time talking about his former reality show “The Apprentice.”  Why that should surprise anyone world be a mystery since Trump is the biggest narcissist who ever went to Washington.  But the prayer breakfast is a place to be in touch with something higher and bigger than oneself.

But when it comes to Trump he thinks nothing is bigger or more important then himself.   Today he used the occasion to turn the event to talk about his favorite topic–himself.

He called for prayers for its new host Arnold Schwarzenegger.   “Ratings went right down the tubes. It’s been a total disaster,” he said.

The keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast was Barry Black, the chaplain of the United States Senate.  I suspect Black wanted to dive off the stage in a hole and dissipater.

Trump told Black, “I don’t know if you’re Democrat or Republican, but I’m appointing you for another year. The hell with it.”

Trump is a rich man but poor when it comes to class.

Finally, how did anyone who thinks of themselves as a Christian vote for Trump?  What political hijinks did an evangelical need to act out to get to such a place of insanity?

I continue to pray for them.

I claim the same, I am at a loss as to explain how after all the severe character flaws that Trump relishes in those who pray and champion really good larger views then could vote for such darkness. How can the ‘700 Club’ crowd be so wrong in such a collective fashion? I know there is no answer, Peter.

As a practicing Christian, I do not hesitate to refer to these evangelicals as “Jesus-challenged.”
