Michael Flynn Fails To Keep Job, Role of Trump’s Relationship With Putin Still To Be Learned
The Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that Michael Flynn misled administration officials regarding his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States and was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians. The concern was raised after Flynn claimed he did not discuss with the Russian ambassador the sanctions being imposed by the Obama administration in retaliation for Russia’s interference in the election. Flynn was not yet back in government. After he had been fired during President Obama’s time in office one does have to ask what made anyone think Flynn should return.
Tonight Flynn, a bigot and disgrace to his uniform, resigned. Let us also admit the Flynn family are just a bunch of haters and racists.
Trump’s transition team at one point tried to get security clearance for the son of Flynn. Michael G. Flynn has served as his father’s top aide and chief of staff, and regularly shares conspiracy theories, expletive-filled posts and racially insensitive sentiments on Twitter and Facebook. As I have said many times over the past months there is no way to make this stuff up!
Politics use to stop at the waters edge in this land. Tonight serious questions must be asked–and answers obtained–as to what is happening with Trump and Russian President Putin. While I understand that Trump supporters probably have not heard of the Logan Act the serious minded who care about this nation have, and need to be vigilant. The news of what Flynn did tonight does not resolve questions as much as fosters a whole new series of them.
The sinister dealings that Flynn undertook for Trump is part and parcel of the dangerous sentiments that exists in this White House regarding a wide range of national security issues. Tonight he was thrown out of the Trump administration. But the concerns of a nation still are front and center about the intermingled relationship Trump has with Putin.
