Hollywood To Celebrate Movie Magic With Academy Awards

February 26, 2017

I still thrill to the movies that Hollywood makes each year.  Some make me smile, others cry, some make me think, and others are just pure fun to watch.  This year is appears that all bets are on La La Land to walk away with most of the main awards this evening.  There were certainly many memorable moments in film this year and some of those will be recalled this evening.

At our home James and I watch films throughout the year.  Among those we watched over this Oscar season was the classic musical which showcased one of the dearest ladies of film who died last year.  Debbie Reynolds is simply a national treasure.  Singing in The Rain is timeless and allows for laughter and joy to be felt over and over regardless of age.  Reynolds will be fondly recalled tonight in Hollywood, as she should be.

The Oscars are for more than just looking at the films of the past year but also are a vehicle for montages to again remind us of the magic that film continues to hold from decades past.  With that in mind here is just one of the memory-makers from 1952.

WOW! Is that Donald O’Connor? Sooo talented, but OUCH, the knees…

I’ve never watched Singing in the Rain. Guess I better do that soon. I have enjoyed the clip of Gene Kelly’s song/dance of Singing in the Rain.

“Tammy, Tammy, Tammy’s in love” ….fondly remember Debbie Reynolds. Don’t know if I’ll watch all of the Oscars or not. Maybe dip in.
