America In Danger Due To Trump’s Erratic Behavior This Weekend

March 6, 2017

What happened this weekend from Donald Trump is not normal.  The real world of reasonable and mature citizens know what Trump did cannot be viewed as acceptable.  There is no way to claim the erratic behavior we witnessed was another Twitter rant.   What we witnessed from Trump allows for every person to have most legitimate fears about this man having access to the nuclear codes.

The accusations leveled by Trump over the weekend where he suggested his predecessor committed a federal crime for political purposes by ordering him wiretapped has troubling implications no matter the ultimate facts.   Trump clearly did not think this through before he made his colossal mistake.

In the highly unlikely event Trump is proven right about something President Obama did the consequences are obvious enough for mature citizens to instantly grasp.  Because if Trump told the truth about phone taps that means a federal judge, independently elected, found probable cause that Trump, or people on his staff, have probable cause to have broken the law or to have interacted with a foreign agent.  Six column headlines I every American paper–and most overseas ones, too.

And if Trump is wrong –and just falsely accused an ex-president of a “sick” effort to rig an election – how can those who need to or even want to trust Trump’s word do so going forward? With a real crisis developing out of North Korea and who knows what’s next to pop of out of control in the world how can Trump ever hope to be taken seriously?

I have argued time and again that words matter.  Every word from a president has power.  But Trump has no sense of history, and no real educated background which allows him insight into the power of the Oval Office or how to conduct such power.

This weekend has proven the point made by the majority of voters in this nation.   Trump is mentally unstable and dangerous to this nation.

We are left with an erratic person in the Oval Office who carelessly throws out lies and undermines the credibility of the office. When a real crisis hits and the words of a president matter there will be no one who will be able to trust him. The fact some of my fellow citizens are so disregarding of the need for an honest and clear-headed leader is as troubling to me as the complete incompetent who plays so dangerous with power in the White House.

I was trying to be polite to you. When you gave even a small amount of credence to Trump’s outright lies about tapping I used the old joke about the made-up senator. The lesson is there is no way to respond to a crazy question that has no foundation. Once you allow for the topic to be brought up–even a total lie–than everyone is talking about it as if it were truth. That is what Trump does over and over from illegal voters to those huge throngs celebrating after 9/11 in New Jersey and then this rubbish about wire-tapping.

And, we continue to talk past each other.

I dislike it when ppl are over-pc, too pc . . . but that being said,
I don’t find anything jokey about a beaten wife.

No, Patti, the line about the senator is the whole joke, and therein lies the lesson.

I said in the ‘spy vs spy’ world…where agents not only collect information, they also spread disinformation. They are in a job, professional liars. Then you got your political campaigns where spin meisters on both sides play their dirty tricks to win at all costs. Then you got your reporters who seize on one small portion of someone’s statement and blow it into something it’s not and ride the same erroneous angle for days.

I’m not willing to take any of their words as factual. Nor am I willing to automatically dismiss any as being untrue. Aren’t there investigations ongoing? After evidence and testimony are presented and argued, I may have more of a complete picture… and be able to determine where I think the truth lies.

As far as the old joke goes…I suppose you have the perfect comeback!?!

You are correct that FISA judges are appointed, and I will edit those two words as I meant to state they at one time were congressionally voted on to sit on a federal court. So thanks. But to give any credence, as you do in the second half of your comment, to the absurd statement Trump made without an ounce of evidence this weekend is stunning. There is no proof of any wiretapping so you are now using the words from Trump and trying to make it seem factual. That is very troubling for this nation. I recall the old joke, “So Senator, when did you stop beating your wife?” Same thing applies here.

FISA judges are not independently elected. They are appointed. As far as the ‘spy vs spy’ world…it’s not impossible for me to believe Trump’s phones were tapped by one of the intelligence agencies. I doubt Obama initiated the order, but was he aware the tap was underway…maybe so.
