Donald Trump Removes First DREAMer from America

April 19, 2017

This is simply immoral.

It has happened. I knew in my heart it would occur at some point as I am convinced there is a very dangerous man sitting in the Oval Office.

The first DREAMer deportation of the Trump presidency has now taken place.  To play to those who will not study hard enough to get a good paying job, or take responsibility for their station in life, Trump instead resorted in the campaign and now from the White House to help angry white men feel better about themselves.  Striking out at smart and skilled DREAMers is the way Trump hopes to mollify rural whites.

What is known at this time is still not fully in focus but a 23-year-old man brought to the U.S. as a child, and protected by the Obama administration’s DACA policy, was deported and barred reentry in California.   This is highly upsetting and concerning for all who grasp the wrongness of such a decision.

There is no doubt that Democratic lawmakers and advocacy groups have every reason to jump on the case to rightly argue the Trump administration is breaking the president’s commitment to “show great heart” to young people who are illegally in our nation through no fault of their own.

Trump has delayed any action on so-called DREAMers despite his agencies’ overall get-tough policies on undocumented immigrants and foreign workers.

This story will have legs and Trump can not escape the heat and scorn that will erupt.  I know Trump does not understand or appreciate our country’s historical narrative, but I suspect in the near future with the blowback from this case he will have a chance to hear it loud and clear.

we all need to keep up the resistance and never let up on the pressure as we can and will prevail in the long term.

The facts are still being discovered and reported. As reported in the Washington Post….While Montes was walking to a taxi station in Calexico, Calif., a Border Patrol agent on a bicycle stopped him, asking him for identification. Having accidentally left his wallet in a friend’s car, Montes’s lawyers say, he had no identification on him, and no way of proving his status as a “dreamer” allowing him to live in the United States legally.
Another officer was called to the scene and took Montes into custody that night, Feb. 17, driving him to a station near the border. Hours later, at about 1 a.m., immigration officials walked Montes across the border, physically removing him from the United States and leaving him in Mexico, his lawyers say. Let me add that more details are being discovered with even the government making additions. While DHS initially said Tuesday they had a record of Montes’s DACA expiring in 2015, they released new information Wednesday confirming that Montes was approved for DACA that lasted until 2018.

Not the way it went down. He was protected by the DACA policy as long as he followed the rules. He had a criminal offense and was on probation. Being on probation, he was required to inform probation if/when he left the country. He failed to do this and went to Mexico…losing his DACA protection. When he tried to reenter the U.S. illegally, he was taken into custody.
