Congressional Statements on James Comey

May 10, 2017

This is worth a few minutes to mine into.

Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate issue press releases and other statements on multiple topics via their official websites. Represent regularly checks for new statements and posts links to them here. You can search the titles of the statements.

Such as Congressman Nadler released the following.

“A fair, thorough, and comprehensive investigation is necessary to protect democratic government in the United States. The President’s firing of Director Comey ranks with Nixon’s firing of Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox in October 1973. As such, the only path forward is the appointment of a special prosecutor and an independent 911-style investigative panel.”

Or the concerns raised by Congressman Green.

“The timing of Director Comey’s termination is questionable and I am deeply concerned with President Trump’s motive for firing Mr. Comey,” said Green. “Throughout the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, Mr. Comey demonstrated the professionalism that his position demanded. The American people deserve an answer from the President for his justification of Mr. Comey’s termination. Moving forward I think it is now more important than ever to appoint a special prosecutor to oversee the ongoing investigation as I and many of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle have called for.”
