President Obama And The John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts

May 30, 2017

There were many stories and tidbits that were discovered during my recent trip to Washington, D.C., but perhaps the one that made me feel the best was the account I heard from a tour guide at the John F. Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts.

There is a presidential box at each of the theaters in the center.  Each box is really a suite that allows for food services and space for family and friends to gather and enjoy a performance. Obviously the president could not use them constantly so it was arranged for a lottery system at the White House so from the janitor up to the Chief-of-Staff would all have a chance to enjoy the facilities.

The tour guide was not able to speak about the use of the boxes under other presidents but knew that Obama had opened up the possibility to all those who worked in his White House.  Just another reason to respect that man.
