Trump’s Muslim Travel Ban Faces Yet Another Legal Knockdown

June 12, 2017

Good news for the Constitution.

Donald Trump’s Muslim travel ban executive order suffered yet one more tough legal blow as a second federal appeals court weighed in against the legality of the directive.  There is no way that Trump can seem to get xenophobic ideas marshaled through in this nation.

This time a three-judge 9th Circuit panel unanimously turned down a Trump administration request to lift an injunction blocking key parts of Trump’s revised order from taking effect.

Trump “exceeded the scope of the authority delegated to him by Congress” to oversee immigration, the court ruled. “Immigration, even for the President, is not a one-person show,” the three judges wrote in a joint opinion.

Last month, another federal appeals court-the 4th Circuit-also rebuffed Trump’s effort to move forward with the directive, which he contends is an anti-terrorism measure.
