Big news day as the Russian investigation into the under-handed affairs of the Trump family along with their cronies continues.
Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager for President Trump, was found to have much stronger financial ties to a Russian oligarch than have been previously reported. Some are not surprised at the idea that Manafort was connected to Russian power bases, but were surprised at the extent his financial ties were bound up with the underside from that country.
News reports today reveal that $26 million changed hands in the form of a loan between a company linked to Manafort and the Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, a billionaire with close ties to the Kremlin, bringing their business relationship to $60 million. Why this matter is Manafort is under investigation for alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
The screws are tightening on Manafort and one has to assume that at some point he may wish to talk in detail and in so doing point investigators in the direction everyone knows this probe is leading–straight to the heart of the Trump family.
Meanwhile former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus was interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller’s team today and one can only imagine how quick the songbird sang. After all, being fired by the White House means there is no more reason to keep the secrets of the nursery.
Just another week of what is certainly a most thorough and exhausting investigation.
