What Happens When Facts Are Discarded At White House?

October 17, 2017

Simply deplorable.  A third grader would need more fact based reasoning on a school paper than the Trump White House uses to shape policy.

White House officials working on trade policy were alarmed last month when a top adviser to President Trump circulated a two-page memo that alleged a weakened manufacturing sector leads to an increase in abortion, spousal abuse, divorce and infertility.

The documents, which were presented as fact sheets without any data or information to back up the assertions, were prepared and distributed by Peter Navarro, director of the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy.

Two White House officials confirmed the authenticity of the documents. The memo has emerged just as the Trump administration has threatened to withdraw from a free trade agreement with South Korea and is taking a hard-line stance against Canada and Mexico in renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Are you serious with that comment? Those words you ascribe to me where made by an adviser to President Trump! Therefore they do not cover all my concerns. The main point of the post was that no facts or data was used to support the claims. How did you miss that?

You are clearly neoliberal on economics: “weakened manufacturing sector leads to an increase in abortion, spousal abuse, divorce and infertility.” Guess that covers all your concerns, but there’s a vast population out there that also do not ally with Trump, Pence, etc. They want Democratic “values” that are pre-Clinton, thinking like Kennedy and especially FDR,

There’s a whole lot of people that reject this neoliberal trap, for good reason, and want economic equality, but our popular politics ignores this truth. That’s in Milwaukee, Madison, and even in rural places like Alma or Birchwood.

This is more complicated than simply saying Trump = bad.
