Jeff Sessions And His Weaselly Trouble With The Truth

Saturday Night Live--which again this season is soaring in the ratings–has pegged Attorney General Jeff Sessions perfectly as a weaselly. slimy. rat-like figure who will appear from under desks or hidden away in a drawer only to appear and know things at the strangest of times.

Today Sessions appearred before Congress and made good on the SNL depiction.

Testifying before the House Judiciary Committee Sessions said he now oddly recalls a March 2016 meeting with President Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos. Papadopoulos, in pleading guilty to lying to FBI agents, has admitted he told Trump and a group of other campaign officials, including Sessions, that he had contacts who could help arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Putin.

Earlier this year Sessions lied before Congress when he was asked whether he believed surrogates from the Trump campaign had communications with the Russians.  He then testified “I did not, and I’m not aware of anyone else that did, and I don’t believe it happened.”

Sessions now is spinning a new layer of remarks that one has to suspect, given the movement of the Russian investigation, will also have to be updated.  Today Session told lawmakers that while he now mysteriously can recall the meeting with Papadopoulos, he has “no clear recollection of the details of what he said at that meeting.”

That will be his line until there is another person who works with the Robert Mueller team and allows for Sessions to again find clarity in his thinking.

Sessions is simply weaselly and rat-like as SNL portrays him to be.
