Political Trivia: Sometimes Just Say Nothing At All

Walter Lippmann moved to New York in 1967 and was asked by the press if the dark days of President Johnson’s Washington was no longer a desirable place to live.  He said, “I’m not leaving because of Johnson.”

Now that is where he should have ended his response.   Instead he added the following line.

“We decided on this before Johnson went off the deep end.”
