Trump To Canadian Prime Minister: “Didn’t You Guys Burn Down The White House?”

June 6, 2018

I WEEP for my country.

Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a testy phone call on May 25 over new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration targeting steel and aluminum imports coming from Canada.  But it was the most ridiculous and mind-numbing statement from Trump which stands out from that conversation–and which is just more evidence of the stain he is leaving on the office and the nation.

It is no secret that Trump is not well educated and that came through once again when he had no historical reference for the War of 1812.

According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a “national security” issue.  In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?”

I can only imagine the face of Trudeau, a man schooled and mentally alert.  He must have looked at his aides who were assembled around him and silently laughed and mocked the idiot then sitting in the Oval Office.

The problem with Trump’s comments to Trudeau is that British troops burned down the White House during the War of 1812.  In case Trump has any interest–and we all know his feeble mind is not cable of such interest–but historians point out the British attack on Washington was in retaliation for the American attack on York, Ontario, in territory that eventually became Canada, which was then a British colony.

A little reading about history and Trump might even have the making for a fourth grader at any public school.
