This Is Why I LOVE Politics–Ohio 12th Congressional District

August 8, 2018

All eyes were on Ohio Tuesday with the special election between Democratic candidate Danny O’Connor and Republican Troy Balderson.  The returns were simply awesome to watch come in over the long hours.  Had I known it would have been this exciting we could have invited a couple friends for food and vote watching.

With 100 percent of precincts counted the election is too close to call.  WOW!

The outcome of the House race where Balderson was leading by 1,754 votes out of about 200,000 cast may not be known until over 3,400 provisional ballots in the central Ohio district are tallied in coming weeks.   After that, a full recount may be required by Ohio law if the candidates are within 0.5 percent of each other.

Maybe it was better we did not invite friends–being mindful of fish and guests–and the projected time this election might be called.

Being mindful that this district has been in GOP hands for 35 years. and no Democratic challenger should be anywhere the goal post–(I must be way tired as I am using sport metaphors)–means Democrats have every reason to crow and predict that their party has a real chance to take the House in November.
