Binge Watching: Marvelous Mrs Maisel And The Americans

September 21, 2018

I recall, as a teenager, that the fall television season started with precision shortly after Labor Day.  There was a certainty to programming from the three main networks–ABC, CBS, NBC.  The season would take a break in late fall with the shows returning in early December.

But now there are countless networks, and many have invested huge amounts of money and star-power to create a huge array of entertainment material.  From FX to Amazon and all points between the variety and scale of productions is stunning.   Not only is there a bonanza of content, but also new ways to watch it–new ways to enjoy it.

As a young man it was essential to be in front of the TV to see the continuing dramas unfold, or be left behind as the rest of the county sat engaged.  Then came the VCR which allowed for the viewing public never to be out in the cold just because they were not at home, and on time, to catch a latest episode.

But as any teenager or young adult will now tell you—and even this blogger in his 50’s–there is nothing better than to ‘binge watch’ a series night after night at any hour–and from any place one desires to sit–or lie-down

Two shows as of late came on our radar and demand to be posted about on this blog.  Five Stars for writing, acting, plotting. scope of project, and continued interest.  I hope that you, too. might get caught up in these shows as the nation undergoes huge changes in how we watch, and what we watch on our televisions or devices.

I am often behind on popular culture. But we are really enjoying the show.

I enjoyed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel last year. Yesterday, I finished the BBC series Silk. Great acting!

I rarely watch the former “big 3” networks.
