There have to be consequences to public conservatives who promote violence, perpetuate racism, and stir the pot of white resentments. As such I am pleased to learn that Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin is dropping all of its funding from Vicki McKenna’s Madison radio station because of her absurd comments and dreadful attempts to incite violence.
I have argued for years that there must be financial consequences for those who take to the radio airwaves and foment the worst of human nature. The airwaves should not be used for vile and dangerous word spitting, as McKenna does locally, or Rush Limbaugh does nationally.
This week the racism that leached out of McKenna was even shocking given her past rhetorical over-reaches.
Her radio voice that really is only good for peeling paint off a wall (I have to believe that she is or was a heavy smoker) encouraged “patriots” and “militia” members to take their assault weapons and travel to Kenosha for whatever fetish those types participate in when the clan gathers.
“By the way, where are all the patriots who brag on Facebook, ‘Hey, bring it, baby! Lock and load!’ Where the hell were you last night?” McKenna asked. She continued, “Have you cleaned your guns lately? Do you have enough ammo?”
When conservatives wonder what happened to the nation and why there is such a low bar to cross for public decency they only need to look as far as Vicki McKenna.
