President Trump spent a 10-day Christmas vacation at his Florida luxury resort. Do not get me wrong. I think presidents need vacations and down time. The job is rigorous, the duties many. So it is not the 10-day hiatus which concerns me.
No, instead it is the fact that nearly one-third of the days Trump has been in office has been spent at one of his properties as he golfs and does everything but read books.
Of the more than 100 days Trump visited one of his properties he spent nearly 40 at his golf course in Bedminster, N.J., which he visited for much of his two-week August vacation. And he spent 40 days at Mar-a-Lago, his luxury resort in Palm Beach, Flordia.
George W. Bush went to his ranch in Crawford, Texas, a great deal, but let us be honest about one major difference and that is one could not rent the bedroom next to his. The money that is being made by the travel arrangements for the current easily bored man-child elected president is most troubling. The fact the nation has a weak-minded leader is bad enough. That he is filling his personal coffers on tax revenue for this own play time is worse.
