Donors Needed To Make Willy Street Poetry In Sidewalks Project Possible

In recent weeks many have worked to incorporate poetry into the new sidewalks being constructed on Willy Street. The idea was one that I instantly supported when first learning of it.

As with any idea in these tough economic times comes the need to ante up with money to make a concept possible.

As such this is time for poetry lovers, and those who have grander visions for our city, to open their checkbook and help make a difference.

This is not something that one can ponder for very long as the clock is ticking, and the need is great.

Each selection will require about $700 to create the stamp used to put the poetry in the cement. Sidewalks are going in quickly and there is little time.

While one generous donor has stepped in to cover the cost of one of the pieces, there is still a need to raise the funds for the remaining three.

Donations can be made on-line at the Marquette Neighborhood Association, or can be sent to MNA, PO Box 3223, Madison, WI 53703.

All donations are tax deductible.
