It seems that every August when Congress leaves Washington for their summer recess something big happens that makes for headlines and controversy. Given what the world is watching unfold in Gaza, and the heightened tensions in eastern Ukraine along with the simmering issue of young children coming to our nation from Central America it might seem nearly impossible to have something else develop that makes new headlines.
But I am betting that something does happen that leads the national media to report something akin to “it was hard to get congressional responses to this breaking news as so many of the members are in their home district.”
August has proven to be that type of month.
