Dane County DA Ozanne Needs To Explain Why Justice Not Served In Jeffrey Vogelsberg Case

I swore at one time I would never go after the court system in the way Bill O’Reilly at times does on his television show.  I thought it just not a proper thing to do since the process of law has many layers of complexity and the players involved are all seeking to have the system work to produce the best outcome for the case being considered.

Right?

Wrong.

I watched the late night news Tuesday and was seriously upset with the outcome over the Jeffrey Vogelsberg case which in any way one looks at it is just wrong.

The first-degree murder trial of Jeffrey Vogelsberg  ended abruptly Tuesday when Vogelsberg pleaded no contest to a lesser form of homicide.  Assistant District Attorney Robert Kaiser said that under the agreement, he would seek up to 12 years in prison for Vogelsberg, followed by seven years of extended supervision. Defense lawyer David Karpe agreed to ask for no less than eight years in prison for Vogelsberg.

Let us not forget what happened to Vogelsberg’s brother, Matthew Graville, who was autistic and idolized Jeffery.  Jeffery tortured his brother over and over, finally killing him and then buried him in the woods like one might do for a dog.  Jeffery Vogelsberg then stood by and did nothing while people were searching for Matthew, and even intimidated witnesses to prevent his torturing and killing from coming to light.

And the people of Dane County are expected to be pleased with up to 12 years being served for Jeffrey Vogelsberg?

This is a travesty.  Jeffrey Vogelsberg should have spent the rest of his life in prison.

District Attorney Ismael Ozanne has some explaining to do with how this case was so grievously mishandled in his office.  It is no wonder Ozanne did not fare better with the voters when it came to his primary election for state attorney general.

There is no excuse for the lack of justice for Matthew Graville, and someone needs to explain to the taxpayers who pay for this ‘justice’ what in hell went wrong.
