South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson Owes Apology To President And Nation

My first thought was the conservatives were so concerned about school children only yesterday.  What would the young ones think about such a display as that of Congressman Joe Wilson on national TV tonight?

There has been a debasing to so much of the political process this last month as clearly demonized people took to town hall meetings to jeer, rant, and screech their way onto the national radar.  They achieved their result.  We know there is a very disturbed element that find slurs and even holstered weapons the only way they can register their thoughts.  But surely the elected officials in Congress are above the lowest common denominators that often made headlines at the town halls.  Right?

Wrong!

Nothing in all my years ( I am 47) of watching presidential addresses to Joint Sessions of Congress was as low and gutterish as that exhibited by South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson.  During the speech he screamed out at the President of the United States, calling out to the leader of the free world on national television “you lie.”

He and his ilk may find this boorish behavior of the type that white trash all too easily display as just a  fun-lovin’ time.  But for the nation as a whole it was a pitiful moment on the national stage.

He owes an apology not only to the President, but to the nation as a whole.

I was very embrassed for the nation when this congressman spoke out in protest at the Health Care Speech of the president. I find that some chose political oppotunity to chose fights only that may benefit them or thier causes. Why did he not call President Bush a liar for the Weapons of Mass Destruction. Thousands of men and women killed in Iraq over a tie. What about the lie: Remeber: “Read My Lips, not new taxes” Did we not get new taxes? Are man in the grave over a lie? Let us be fair and not wish for the President death through prayer as a preacher said. To be truthful. We, Americans has been lying since this country was founded. For instance. “We holds these truths…created equal”.

What a class act. His gubment website is “down for maintenance”

No doubt people from all over the country are trying to pay their respects.

This guy sat in the chambers for all of Bush’s speeches, when he lied to the country left and right, and never shouted “Lie!”

    What an ass!

And Eric Cantor texting during the speech, what an immature ass!

Maybe he was trying to line up an escort for after the speech.

Joe Wilson is the poster boy for hypocrisy, since all the GOP does is lie, lie, lie, lie. It’s the only thing Republicans know, oh, except line their pockets with dollars from health care and pharmaceutical companies. This man is disgusting.

Since last night I’ve been trying to send Wilson a direct message on his personal web site. SURPRISE! His web site is shut down. So, add, wimp to the list.

Did his Mama never teach him when to shut his mouth? Such disrespect shown the office of the President and Mr. Obama. Boy if anyone should be censured it would be him. Allowing him to only apologize will only insure that it will happen again and from others as well as the general public. This will not be corrected with only a slap on the wrist. It would be like disciplining a dog with a newspaper. He’ll fear the newspaper but will redo the naughty act.
I realize our society is built on freedom of speech but there is a time and place. I suppose one should look at reverse discrimination in this case and say Wilson should “learn his place” and “watch his mouth”.

Wilson takes the cake, but Cantor being a “leader” was disgraceful, too.

I was going to email – but they have a convoluted format, so I just called one of Cantor’s district offices (804.747-4073) and said that it was poor manners and that along with Joe Wilson’s behavior that it shows that Republicans have no respect for the institution (Congress) or the office of the President and until they do, they have no credibility. I was not given any excuse, just thanked for my call.

The President of the United States deserves respect. What Joe Wilson said was not appropriate nor should it ever be appropriate for anyone sitting in the President’s chair.

    BUT..

Singing “Na Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss ‘Em Goodbye)” of the outgoing President, pretty much set the tone for the administration.

And the libs complain about a 2 word editorial?
