52-And-A-Half-Inches

Updated With Picture….Per A Reader’s Request

This just might wind up as the strangest blog post yet.

Friday night James and I went on one of those grocery ‘stock-up’ shopping trips that is not so bad once it is underway.  But as the cart got  full I thought….Good Lord….this is going to be like in a movie or two that I have watched.  We will require a second cart!  By the time we were at the check-out counter both were full and rounded with items for holiday baking, pantry shelf needs for winter days when no one wants to travel to a store, and all the sundry cooking needs that just required replenishing.  James is a wonderful cook but to do so requires ‘this and that’ and if not stocked when needed…grrr… is what I hear from the kitchen.

We had never bought so many groceries at one time, and remarked as much to the checker.  She smiled, and told us she had seen as many as five carts for one customer!  She was letting us know we were still amateurs.  As she scanned item after item I thought where does one store 5 grocery carts of food. As it was in our case I had to think how we was going to fit everything we bought into Azure, our VW  Beetle.  As we finalized our purchases the woman at the checkout started to print out the receipt of items we bought.  Once it started rolling out I looked, and then started to laugh.  It seemed to never want to stop!  In total there were 52-and-a-half-inches of receipt.   That came out to $10.00 per inch.  The fact we came home and got out the yardstick to measure it means we have fun with most everything in life, and that is how it should be.  Even the mundane tasks can, and should, bring smiles.

Maybe even merit a blog post.

And where did we put our piggy bank when we went to the store? Poor piggy must have gotten dehydrated from that shopping trip. Must resemble the “swine flu”.
And you seem to have forgotten that slogan you preach so often,
“A car is not a pickup”!!! LOL
