John Edwards Not A Hypocrite When He Fights For Nation’s Poor People

The rants from those who want us to believe that Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards is somehow a hypocrite because he fights on behalf of the poor while being a very wealthy man, is perhaps one of the more feeble-minded arguments that conservatives have used this year.   Why don’t conservatives also suggest that because the Pope wears Prada shoes, something that most Catholics around the world can’t afford, that he is a hyprocrite on poverty?   The election process is long enough this cycle as it is, without the Republicans using such empty meaningless rhetoric to make it seem even longer.

The fact that John Edwards lives the American Dream should delight all those conservatives who feel our system is so grand we should export it around the globe.  Conservatives believe in the ‘American Dream’ so much that they are even willing to invade a nation and kill hundreds of thousands of people in the process of installing it to others.  So why rant so much over one who has achieved it here in America?  Might it just be all politics?  I wonder…..

Why can’t a rich man want to help the poor in America?  Why can’t John Edwards work to insure a better life for all Americans?

In my world I see men who run 5k races to combat breast cancer.  I know heterosexual couples that champion gay rights.  I know childless couples that advocate for school referendums.   It would be similar to someone suggesting that I can’t advocate on social equality for African Americans because I am a Caucasian.

The fact is that while conservative politicians were cutting taxes in Washington, and reaping the rewards in their own pocketbooks, Edwards was holding true to his convictions by voting no.   For the addle-minded in the GOP, that debunks the hypocrisy theory those conservatives throw around about Edwards.  He rejected the tax cuts, as he understood, like most of us, that needed social programs suffer when the rich do not pay their fair share.  Perhaps what the GOP needs is just a dictionary to look up the word ‘hypocrisy’ to end this whole lame argument.

I suggest that some of the anger by conservatives is that they are just jealous of  Edwards.  He is handsome, has nice hair, great speaking ability, bright mind, sensitive soul, and is dynamic.  Have you looked as the folks on TV, or the blogshere, who are blasting Edwards and compared the two……..Enough said.

Here is why John has ZERO chance of getting elected as president, how can you be president when you you don’t even know this?

“I don’t know if I know what a rich person is.” — John Edwards

This man doesn’t know rich and thinks that the war on terror is a bumper sticker. Great qualities to be president. He says there are two Americas but he is unable to tell where it separates and does not see America in danger to extremist.

  2. The war on terrorism is a bumper sticker issue, and President Bush’s actions support this claim.
    From April 30, 2003

“One such CIA briefing, in July 2001, was particularly chilling and prophetic. It predicted that Osama bin Laden was about to launch a terrorist strike ‘in the coming weeks,’ the congressional investigators found. The intelligence briefing went on to say: ‘The attack will be spectacular and designed to inflict mass casualties against U.S. facilities or interests. Attack preparations have been made. Attack will occur with little or no warning.'”

Your lust for a conservative spin on everything proves empty again.

You were sold a bill of goods for the war in Iraq, when that nation had nothing to do with 9/11. You followed Bush like a puppy and never questioned as you are so political that you have no ability, it appears, to ask or reason the facts as they really exist. So now you are left with a nation caught in a civil war and a mountain of debt that you and your kids will need to pay for with more taxes.

You write from time to time about not finding the best person to be President, and yet I think all you want is a conservative spin machine in the White House. That is all you react to, and all that you seem to thrive on,
Since you do seem to love America, and I think you really do, I suggest that you perhaps get a part time job in addition yo your currrent employment to help pay more taxes and better support the ‘war on terrorism’. Or are you just using the war as a bumper sticker too?

    I give up…
Dude this is your blog, you can say what you want and moderate it as you see fit.
After reading this article and your “Conspiracy Theory” about George Bush trying to stay in office after January 20, 2009. I throw my hands up.
If John Edwards (or any democrat) gets into office in 2009, the troops will be pulled out of Iraq, Afghanistan and every terror hole. And yes, my friend once they do that the terriorists will come to Chicago, Cleveland or anywhere they can gain a foothold in the US and attempt to kill us all.
John Edwards through his actions and people in his employ proves that he is a hypocrite, anti-Catholic and totally oblivious to what the heck is going on in the world today.
I will say this again. The Dems should do a debate on FoxNews. If they can’t handle Brit Hume, Sean Hannity et al, then how are they going to handle Osama Bin Laden? The answer is they will not because after all the war on terror is but a bumper sticker.

  4. On the issue of a rich man helping the poor from the oval office: FDR was rich and he did more for the poor and working folk then any president in history.

I don’t however support any of the dem or repub celebdidates. I’m voting third party come election day. Vote for ANYONE not a dem or repub!

On the dems pulling troops, don’t count on it. By continuing to fund via the supplemental they have proven they intend to continue the war. When the FY2008 budget gets passed with a 10% INCREASE in military spending AND additional billions for the war, then you all will understand that both the dems and repubs are pro-war and the new sales job relates to turning Iraq into another Korea.

The scientifically impossible I do right away
The spiritually miraculous takes a bit longer
