GOV. SARAH PALIN WARNS WAR MAY BE NECESSARY IF RUSSIA INVADES ANOTHER COUNTRY

This is why an untested and unpredictable Sarah Palin must never have any real power.  There are not enough days for the needed schooling for this small town mayor and just recently elected Governor before she would be ready for the big league politics of Washington, D.C.  She only obtained her first passport less than a year ago!!  Can you see the mature ones in the McCain campaign, or the State Department reacting to this nugget?  This topic has legs.

On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Gov. Sarah Palin took a hard-line approach on national security and said that war with Russia may be necessary if that nation invades another country.

In her first of three interviews with ABC News’ Charles Gibson and the only interview since being picked by Sen. John McCain as his Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin categorized the Russian invasion of Georgia as “unacceptable” and warned of the threats from Islamic terrorists and a nuclear Iran.

The governor advocated for the admittance of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO.

When Gibson said if under the NATO treaty, the United States would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: “Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you’re going to be expected to be called upon and help.

“And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable,” she told Gibson

  1. You preferred choice would be to let Russi run wild and do whatever they want?

    Grow up Deke.

War is hell, but it is sometimes necessary.

I’d rather have leadership that understands that than wimps like you.

  2. Hmm, not quite as bad as Obama foreign policy adviser Dr. Brz. In one post he referred to Putin as Hitler and another time Stalin. Considering your earlier posts on the topic I thought you’d have a friendlier position to Palin.

  3. I have had very strong ideas on this blog about Putin, Russia, and the Georgia matter. I find it very troubling. I think NATO membership should be increased, even though I understand the arguments on the other side of that matter. I think that Russia does have designs on Ukraine, and that oil and natural gas are the root cause of much, but not all of the issues at stake here as of late.

However, I also know that words matter. The type of language used by mature leaders with a true grasp of the larger consequences of their words will find Plain to be a serious problem. That is my international hatted view.

However, from a pure political point of view she was a good pick for McCain….look at the facts of the race today if you not agree. However, there is no issue I agree with her on, and find her to be less than educated.

OK, so what does Ms. Palin think we should do IF in fact we do go to war with Russia?

Since so many troups are fighting already on a forign land where will we get troups to fight yet another war, and how long will the GOP want that war to last?

I understand protecting our country, however does it ALWAYS have to be about war right from jump? Can we at least try to come to an understanding before we risk our young men and womens lives?

This woman seems to enjoy killing beings that live. I sure do not want her any place near being the Vice President .

Going to war over NATO membership of Ukraine and Georgia is a non-starter. Sarah Palin’s foreign policy teachers should be given a grade of “F”.

The majority of Ukraines do NOT want to join NATO. They have strong ties to Russia and want to keep it that way.

Georgian President Saakasvili has asked NATO to HOLD OFF on considering NATO membership for Georgia. He said that right now it would cause too much trouble.

Besides, our NATO partners at this point are not ready to admit either country.

Wow, going to war with Russia might be necessary if Russia invades another one of the former states of the Soviet Union. So says Sarah Palin. War with Russia over Armenia? If Russia and Georgia go at it again? War between the US and Russia sure would be a positive development for the US. And sort of shows the consequences of taking a freshman governor with no experience in foreign policy and giving her a ten day crash course with Randy Scheunemann and the rest of John McCain’s neocon brain trust that got booted from the Bush inner circle for being too nutty.

The tems of the NATO alliance are very clear: if one country of the alliance is attacked, it is considered an attack on all.

Now, if any of you want to rewrite the terms of the alliance, then feel free to advocate that and see what comes of it. It would be geopolitical suicide. It would send a clear message that the United States is not a reliable partner and in the future our allies would be hesitant to join in any cause, no matter how righteous.

Palin is right and was making a very clear statement of U.S. policy and international treaties within NATO. She didn’t advocate war with Russia – she was advocating defense of our allies.

If Georgia and the Ukraine don’t want to be NATO members, then so be it. It’s a non-issue then except that Georgia has been a much better ally then Russia.

The reason Putin is aggressive in his new imperialism is because he knows that the regardless of what he does, Democrats and moderate Republicans would never stand up to naked aggression. What is his disincentive to thumb his nose at the United States? The Barack Obama’s and Dick Lugar’s of the world would rather sing kumbaya with Iran and the PLO and forsake key allies like Pakistan, Israel, and Georgia.

And I assure you, all of Tibet will shudder when we fail to uphold our end of international alliances…

China is salivating like Pavlov’s dog at bringing Taiwan into the fold – by force if necessary. We might was well throw our commitment to the Taiwanese out the window if we can’t even sustain our agreements within NATO.

Tibet will never be free if China feels like it can continue its imperialism as well; who’s going to serve as that deterrent if the West turns a cheek to Soviet, er, Russian aggression?

I’m not suggesting war with China, as I’m neither advocating war with Russia – only reiterating the points that Palin was making… that we ought to honor our international alliances…

And with this comment “there is no issue I agree with her on” we know she is the best choice for America and will be a great president on 2012 after 4 years as VP.

Personally I have family in Armenia and I pray that this is not going to escalate in that area.
